The FAIT Fellowship is a prestigious program designed to support individuals pursuing careers in the Foreign Service. As a
Full-Service WordPress Developer, I was commissioned to architect their entire digital infrastructure from the ground up.
Consequently, the primary goal was to create a secure, high-performance platform that could handle complex application cycles and high-traffic periods with zero downtime.
The Technical Strategy: Performance & Security
Building for a government-affiliated fellowship requires a disciplined approach to security and site speed. First and foremost, I focused on creating a lightweight theme that ensures rapid load times across all global regions. In addition to the initial build, the project required a robust maintenance strategy to keep the platform secure against modern vulnerabilities.
1. Custom Development & Theme Refinement
To achieve a professional brand identity, I developed a custom theme tailored to the specific needs of the fellowship. Furthermore, I refactored the backend logic to ensure that large volumes of content and resources could be managed intuitively by the client. As a result, the site provides a seamless experience for both administrators and applicants.
2. Managed Hosting & Maintenance
Moreover, I oversee the entire hosting ecosystem on WP Engine to guarantee peak performance. Specifically, I manage regular core WordPress updates, security patches, and automated backup protocols. Therefore, the fellowship can operate with the confidence that its site is optimized and protected 24/7.
